In September 2021 Dave and Liz, living and working in the Northeast of England and feeling the time was right to retire, put their bungalow on the market and began their journey to move closer to family on the Wiltshire and Dorset border in the South.
Before long they had found a new build property in the picturesque town of Shaftesbury, famed for its Hovis adverts and Gold Hill fair. This suited the couple perfectly due to the long distance involved in the relocation process.
On visiting the site, they met a couple who had moved into one of the properties previously, they told him about SJH Carpets in Tisbury. And so, Dave promptly emailed us and that’s where we join their story.
Dave wrote, “You come highly recommended by friends at the new development”.
Dave emailed us in November and began to tell us of his vision for moving to the South. Initially thinking he would be ready for us the following June, he was eager to plan and prepare for a complete fit of hard and carpet flooring throughout the new home before they moved in.
We were equally excited to join Dave and Liz on their journey to finding their perfect flooring, so we planned to meet in the shop on February 7th. February quickly came around and once introductions were made, we started to discuss the various flooring needs of the couple.
Dave was keen to have hard flooring throughout the downstairs, so we introduced him to the prestigious Amtico LVT. Upstairs was to be carpeted with a brand that was both economical, easy to clean, and of good quality. With this in mind, we offered Dave and Liz a choice of Cormar ranges that suited their brief and the couple left us contented in the knowledge that we understood their preferences and were going to work hard at meeting those and the deadlines of the project.
At the start of June 2022, Dave called to let us know that there was a slight delay with the completion date and that he had a hard hat meeting at the site with the developers planned for July. He asked if we could meet up again when he was down. We said Yes! We would be delighted to see Dave and Liz again.
And so, in July we all met up once more and discussed the way forward. We agreed that we would need to visit the site to measure, but meanwhile, we were happy to look at the plans and give them an estimate for Amtico and carpets in Linwood from Cormar.
We also told Dave about the brand-new hard-floor showroom we were building next door and invited him to visit it once completed in August.
And so, in August Dave and Liz re-visited us, and we introduced them to our brand new Amtico One Stands and the Room Visualizer. We were all eager to find the right flooring. Dave already knew they wanted a wood look and so began looking through the Spacia stand. We were equally eager to use the room visualizer and as Dave and Liz picked out possible colour choices, we ran them through the computer.
Spacia Featured Oak was chosen for the downstairs and Spacia Ceramic Frost and Ceramic Light with Cirrus Air stripping was chosen for the ensuites. PDFs were emailed and the day felt like a success to all parties.
We asked Dave, what made him choose Amtico Spacia and what did he think of the new showroom?
Dave responded – “We decided to opt for a different style away from fully carpeted to hard flooring downstairs and carpets upstairs. We chose Amtico on quality and long-lasting performance. We had good sales advice which confirmed our choice. We liked the clear layout of the showroom and the variety of choices available. The room visualizer showed us a good perspective and helped us to see the colour match better, we were very impressed! “
After a few more unavoidable small delays with construction, a site visit was arranged for October and subsequent quotes were accepted.
Completion was now planned for November with the usual 4-6 week inspection process which meant fitting could be arranged and Dave and Liz could be in the property before Christmas. Bonus!
We booked 3 days of fitting to start on December the 12th and threw every abled man at it in order to make right on the promise that Dave and Liz would be decorating the tree for Christmas. Wardrobe areas were requested to be added to the Linwood-Summer Meadow carpet areas upstairs which the fitters were all too happy to do.
And then it was our turn to add to the delays, although only slightly, but it didn’t stop Dave and Liz from moving in. A little extra Amtico was ordered to finish one of the ensuite bathrooms and the following week we asked two of the fitters who were off to come back and finish. They were only too happy to help, and all was done just in time for us to get out of the way for Christmas! Phew!
It is always a pleasure to work with a customer from the start of their journey in buying a new home to its completion – the moving-in day! Dave and Liz not only bought a new home, but they bought a New Build and relocated from the North of the country down to the South, a mammoth task to undertake.
At SJH Carpets we recognized the complex nature of such an undertaking immediately and resolved to make this process as smooth and problem free as possible from our end. We worked with Dave and Liz and the many construction constrictions always keeping an open mind and moving with them through the process being as flexible as they needed us to be.
On completion, we asked, “how happy are you with your flooring?”
Dave answered, “Very happy indeed, it looks great, has been fitted well, and meets our requirements. We would definitely recommend Amtico, Linwwod, and SJH Carpets. We were so pleased with the friendly and helpful service, Thank you!”
